The City of Spring Branch holds a general election each May, on the uniform election date set by the State of Texas. The Mayor and two City Commissioners are elected at large to two-year terms, staggered so the seats do not all come up in the same year.

Offices and terms

• Mayor — a two-year term, elected in odd-numbered years (for example, 2025 and 2027).
• City Commissioner — two seats, each a two-year term, elected in even-numbered years (for example, 2026 and 2028).

Because the two offices are staggered, the city holds an election on the May uniform election date every year.

When an election is called

The election date and the candidate filing period are announced in Notices & News, and the official election order is filed in the Documents Register.

Running for office

To run, a candidate files an Application for a Place on the Ballot with the city during the filing period, which opens and closes on dates set by state law (generally mid-January through mid-February for a May election). Candidates must be registered voters who live within the city limits. The Texas Secretary of State publishes the important election dates for each cycle.

Registering and voting

Voter registration, polling places, and early voting are administered by Comal County. Check your registration at VoteTexas.gov, and find polling locations and sample ballots through the Comal County Elections office.
